Why This Matters to Your Family

What AZNHA is

The Arizona In-Home Care Association represents non-medical in-home care agencies across Arizona and works to raise the standard of care families receive at home.

What membership means here

As a member agency, Sonoran Family Concierge holds itself to the standards of the association: ethical business practices, trained caregivers, and a real commitment to quality non-medical care.

Training, not just paperwork

Our caregivers go through ongoing monthly training and are hired to AZNHA member agency standards.

Bonded and insured

Sonoran Family Concierge is bonded and insured, and every caregiver is 100% background checked and fully vetted before entering a client's home.

Sonoran Family Concierge is a proud member of the Arizona In-Home Care Association (AZNHA). In a state with no license for non-medical home care, that membership is one of the clearest ways to tell a trustworthy agency from the rest.

Arizona doesn't license non-medical home care

Many families are surprised to learn that Arizona has no state agency that licenses or oversees non-medical in-home care. Almost anyone can call themselves a home care company. Quality, screening, and business practices vary widely from one provider to the next.

AZNHA was created to fill that gap. It is a nonprofit association that has served Arizona's in-home care industry for nearly two decades, focused on consumer protection, best practices, and education.

The Standards

What AZNHA members commit to

Every AZNHA member agency agrees to follow the association's Code of Business Ethics and Credentialing Standards of Service. Those standards include:

How caregivers are hired

  • Caregivers are employees of the agency, never independent contractors
  • A criminal background check on every caregiver
  • Face-to-face interviews and at least two positive references from prior employers
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • A negative TB test before hire
  • A written drug-testing policy shared with every client
  • DMV record checks for any caregiver who drives clients
  • Orientation that includes training on recognizing and reporting elder abuse

How the business operates

  • Workers' compensation, general liability, and professional liability insurance
  • Payroll that complies with state and federal law
  • Protecting client privacy and confidentiality
  • Ongoing caregiver training

How clients are protected

  • An in-person assessment before care begins
  • A written, personalized plan of care
  • A signed service agreement that spells out rates, billing, and cancellation terms up front
  • In-person quality assurance visits at least every 90 days
  • A clear complaint and problem-resolution process

What this means for you

When you choose an AZNHA member agency, you're choosing a company that has publicly committed to a higher standard and answers to an industry association when it falls short. Families can bring concerns about a member agency directly to AZNHA.

For us, membership puts in writing what we already believe. Your loved one deserves a screened, trained, insured caregiver, and you deserve clear terms and a direct line to the person responsible. At Sonoran Family Concierge, that person is me.

Questions to ask any home care agency

Whether you choose us or someone else, ask every agency you speak with:

  1. 1Are your caregivers employees or contractors?
  2. 2Are you insured, and do you carry workers’ compensation?
  3. 3What background checks and training do your caregivers complete?
  4. 4Will my loved one see the same caregiver each visit?
  5. 5Who do I call if something goes wrong, and how quickly will they respond?
  6. 6Are you a member of AZNHA?

AZNHA also publishes a helpful list of questions to ask in-home care agencies.
